I feel like everything I write these days is about the environment. To be honest I am pretty bumped up these days and don't feel like writing anything else. I have no particular reason for it, except that the weather has been very gloomy and I have been feeling lonely these days. My work has not been progressing as well as I expected and I find myself wasting a lot of time all day browsing the internet.

So to cheer everyone up, I am putting a link to this cool video of mercury beating heart. Mercury is about the coolest and most mesmerizing material to watch and play with. Unfortunately it is very toxic and it is generally not a good idea to play with it, unless you have a proper fume hood or other means of ventilation. This beating hear is a cool combination of physics and chemistry. I used to love physics and pretty much hate chemistry. Now that I look back, I never had a good chemistry teacher and that is probably a main reason for this bias. These days however, my job is a neat combination of physics and chemistry, forcing me to finally start learning some aspects of it. I must confess that the lack of my knowledge in chemistry has been (and probably will be) a big stumbling block in my research.

I really truly want to do research on something that eventually helps the environment, but for that you mostly need a great deal of chemistry knowledge and experience. So for the foreseeable future I will just focus on physics and have fun with it.
